Cooler weather, changing leaves, and pumpkin-flavoured treats — fall has arrived. If you’re planning an autumn getaway, you won’t want to miss LawnStarter's list of the best states to visit this fall. The online site compared the 50 states based on 20 key indicators of a breathtaking and fun fall trip.  Lucky for Albertans, nearby California ranks tops in some key metrics; things like number of scenic drives, national parks and attractions. Rankings looked at outdoor access, amusements like corn mazes and hayrides and how long fall foliage sticks around. California's only caveat is the continued threat of wildfires, so check on that before heading out for a fall escape.

After California, Washington state, Vermont, Michigan and Colorado round out the top 5 on the list. At the bottom are Mississippi, Louisiana and Hawaii, lovely places, but not so much known for fall beauty.

Full ranking is at https://www.lawnstarter.com/blog/studies/best-worst-states-to-visit-in-fall/ Of course, it goes without saying that autumn in Canada rocks, too. Check out the beauty of your own province whenever you get the chance.
