This month, to mark Alzheimer's Awareness Month, THIRD ACTion Film Festival and partners are connecting with seniors and anyone affected by Alzheimer's and dementia through films and discussion. The event starts with a viewing of four short films and two recorded Q and As/discussion on Thurs. Jan. 14 from 1-3 p.m.

Short films include:

Memo
Louis, a retired gentleman, resists the over-protection of his daughter, Nina, to keep his independence.

Kayla
Lonely and chaotic professional caregiver, Sarah, has to decide what to do when her new employer, Stanley, mistakes her for his granddaughter.
This film will be followed by recorded talk with John Dower (director) and Leigh-Anne Gilbert (writer & Sarah) of “Kayla”.

The Matchmaker
Terrified that his mother may not find the important mental stimulation he believes will stave off Alzheimer's disease, Sam sets out to find her the Perfect Best Friend within her new retirement community, with hilarious and poignant results.

All the Time in the World
An older woman lets herself get lost in the stories of a sprightly older gentleman sitting next to her. When they part company, a gentle goodbye reveals more than we could have guessed.
This film will be followed by a recorded talk with a subject matter expert (TBA), who will share their experience of living with dementia.

January events are presented in conjunction with Dementia Advocacy Canada, Dementia Network Calgary and the Alzheimer Society of Calgary.
