On June 4th, Centennial Elementary School students sang, delivered special notes and made handmade cards to local seniors in honour of Seniors' Week 2015. Music teacher Cheryl Thiessen, of Centennial Elementary School Jr. and Sr. Choir worked hard to practice for the event. Over 40 talented students from Grades 1 through 6 came to show their appreciation of the seniors in their community by singing a rendition of the 70s classic "YMCA," among a medley of others for residents at Wedgewood retirement community. Following the songs, the children delivered over the 40 friendship cards as a surprise, to brighten the seniors' days even more.

“The presentation of the cards will be a surprise for the seniors, who will be very touched by this kindness," said Touchmark Life Enrichment/Wellness director Joan Drake, in a press release. "The afternoon is a wonderful opportunity for seniors and children alike to share time interacting with each other. It will enrich the lives of those young and old!
