There's more incentive to get both shots of a COVID-19 vaccine, as the Alberta government announced some 40 travel-related prizes that will be awarded at the end of summer to those who've had the jab twice. Prizes, drawn on Aug. 24, include luxury vacations, all-inclusive stays and flights within Canada and abroad.

“The safe restart of travel is essential to Canada’s economic recovery and the faster Canadians are vaccinated, the sooner we can restore jobs across our hard-hit travel and tourism sector," said WestJet vice president Andrew Gibbons, who joins Air Canada as prize sponsors.

WestJet prizes include an all-inclusive vacation to Cancun and flight vouchers, while Air Canada likewise is offering a Cancun-based seven-night all-inclusive vacation and flights abroad or within Canada.

To win the first of the prizes, travel or $1 million, Alberta residents must be age 18-plus and have received a first dose of vaccine. To win subsequent prizes, Albertans must have received both doses.

To register for the lottery, visit alberta.ca/lottery. Only one entry is allowed per person, and one entry qualifies entrants for all prizes.
