Local journalist Adrienne Pan, who hosted CBC Edmonton's afternoon radio show Radio Active for the last few years, died this weekend at age 43. A CBC report said Pan had been battling a serious illness for a number of months.
Over her broadcast career, Pan worked in Lethbridge and Winnipeg before returning to her Alberta hometown and the CBC. She hosted the late-night newscast and supper-hour t.v. broadcast in Edmonton before making the move to radio in 2018 to host Radio Active, the weekday drive home show.
In 2018, Pan produced a close-to-her-heart radio documentary, The Pipeliner Wives Club, which recounted her experience (and that of others) about life being married to a pipeliner.
Monday's (Jan. 17) Radio Active program (3-6 p.m. on CBC Radio One) was a special broadcast dedicated to Adrienne Pan; with listeners, friends and colleagues offering memories and stories of the journalist, and rebroadcast of past Pan interviews, including those she did on the Fort McMurray fires.
