Canadians are eagerly counting down the days until May fifth when they can celebrate Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May). This traditional Mexican holiday was created to commemorate the 1862 victory of the Mexican army over French adversaries at the Battle of Puebla. Since way back then, those in Mexico and borders beyond, have celebrated the day with food, drink and festivities.

Cinco de Mayo recipes abound, with favourite party foods always on the menu: things like guacamole, huevos rancheros, enchiladas, tostadas, tamales, fish tacos, Mexican street corn and more. The official dish of the day is Mole Poblano, because the day marks the victory at the Battle of Puebla, but all party foods are welcome!

The day is celebrated with drink too, from refreshing cerveza to a favourite margarita. Grand Marnier is partnering with one of Toronto's top mixologists, Robin Goodfellow (and local bartenders from major Canadian cities) to create unique margarita recipes using Grand Marnier. It's promised to be a must-try for any Cinco de Mayo celebration.
