Age Friendly Edmonton celebrates Seniors' Week (June 7-13) with a series of virtual Lunch 'n Learns. Attendees can join via Zoom or Facebook--Zoom offers more opportunity to participate and a limit of 100 attendees, while the Facebook livestream will accommodate all. Check out the offerings and sign up for whatever interests!

Join Jolyn Hall from Age Friendly Edmonton's Aging in Place Hub for a presentation showing how older adults can age in place successfully.  

In this session, you will learn the importance of developing aging in place plans:    

  • A plan to prepare your home to age in place   
  • A plan to age well in your community    
  • A plan to understand supports available to you   

Equipped with the proper knowledge, you can successfully age in place on your terms.

This panel discussion will feature thought leaders for a rich conversation on ‘Ageism’ -- the new “-ism”. Both the individual and society can benefit when a positive approach to aging is adopted. Current research shows that in a society where the positive aspects of aging are promoted, improved aging health and an increase in life expectancy enables seniors to continue to be viewed as valuable, contributing societal members.

Volunteering in the community has always been a great way to give back and gain a sense of connectedness and wellbeing. In this session, local changemakers will share resources to help you get connected, outline the importance of building connections as we age from a health perspective, and discuss how volunteering can provide a key avenue for engagement as we age.
