Check out this new fall fare

Canadians can cook like a Michelin-star chef with new Goodfood and St. Lawrence meal-kits. Or, pop an Italy-made frozen pizza into the oven. That'll be a hit too.

Want to create something at home that's restaurant quality? Here are a couple of new options available to Canadians.

Canadian meal-kit brand Goodfood, has partnered with iconic Vancouver restaurant St. Lawrence to offer meal-kits by head chef Jean-Christophe (J-C) Poirier for a limited time only.

Awarded One Star by the Michelin Guide last year (2022), St. Lawrence is one of Canada’s most celebrated restaurants offering classic Quebecois and French cuisine. The meal-kits provide everything the home cook needs to create a Michelin Star dish and elevate their at-home dining experience.

Until early November, meal kit subscribers can order the exclusive Steelhead Trout “En Papillote” or Lemon Chicken Piccata meal-kits from makegoodfood.ca. The meal-kits come with recipe cards and pre-portioned ingredients.

Testing out the make-at-home premium kits, it's easy to understand the appeal: delicious food, not hard to prepare, and at in-home prices: that's a win. The steelhead trout may sound intimidating, but step-by-step instructions make it very doable.

The trout recipe is also featured in Chef J-C’s new cookbook "Where the River Narrows”, which is heavily inspired by his Quebecois heritage and features a number of dishes on the St. Lawrence menu.

“I opened St. Lawrence as a heartfelt homage to my hometown of Saint-Jérome and to share my love of Quebecois cuisine,” said J-C Poirier, Chef and Owner, St. Lawrence. “I’m excited to bring some of my favourite recipes to Canadians’ doorsteps, while helping them feel more confident in the kitchen and of course, enjoy the pleasures of cooking.”

"Our priority is to make cooking feel accessible rather than intimidating” said Jordana Rebner, Head Chef, Goodfood.

Featuring fresh locally-sourced ingredients, the St. Lawrence meal-kits will be delivered nationwide between September 11th – November 3rd.

You may have seen a new addition to the frozen pizza aisle this fall; PC® Black Label Frozen Pizzas. The authentic, hand-tossed pizzas come straight from Italy, featuring crisp, airy crusts in three varieties: Margherita, Diavola (with salami, smoked provola cheese, and red onion) and Funghi (a mix of three mushrooms and black truffle).

"The hand-tossed pizza crust is what makes Italy known for its pizzas," said Heather Fadali, Vice President of Loblaw Brands at Loblaw Companies Limited.  "And that light and airy crust you can now get at your table in less than 20 minutes."

The PC® Black Label frozen pizzas are $7.99 each. On a taste test, one pizza-loving millennial asked if the Diavola pizza had been ordered from the nearby Italian restaurant. High praise.
