The Edmonton International Film Festival starts tonight--a marathon of 115 movies at four venues over 11 days (Sept. 21-Oct. 1). New this year, the Oscar-qualifying festival will happen at four venues around town: The Art Gallery of Alberta, The Stanley A. Milner Library, Metro Cinema at the Garneau Theatre and the Telus World of Science.
Tonight's opening screening happens at the Garneau at 6:30 p.m. with "A Shirt Day". Stay for the Q and A with film director Kevin T. Landry, and the after party at The Bell in Scona (10416 80 Ave).
Showcasing high quality cinema from around the world, the EIFF allows filmmakers to interact with each other and audiences, giving it a place on the global film festival map. EIFF presents a mix of filmmaker chats, Q and As, gala screenings, a local filmmaker spotlight, lunchtime shorts and more.
