A five-year old Golden Retriever from Ontario, Calla is part of the resort’s concierge team. She was born at Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind (CGDB), and trained as part of their Guide Dog and Assistance Dog Training Program. Through this training, it was discovered Calla was incredibly personable, which made her well suited for the Mobility Assistance Program.
With the pandemic putting a pause in her training routine, Calla pivoted in a new direction and headed her paws out west. She is now in a position to greet and welcome guests in the lobby of the Main Lodge when Stanley is off on his breaks.
Have you ever brought your canine companion to the JPL? Be warned: the lodge is going to spoil your pooch. Pet offerings are highlighted in a Pet Amenity and Pet Brochure, where visitors can read that every four-legged friend will receive a plush dog bed, food & water bowls, doggy bags, a welcome treat and a special JPL-branded dog tag as a take-home souvenir. To enhance your pet’s experience in Jasper National Park, the pet brochure outlines many of the surrounding pet-friendly trails, hikes, and sightseeing activities that local Jasper partners offer to those travelling with pets, as well as any essential services such as the local veterinarian and pet sitting services.
Earlier this spring, the JPL announced its own Pet Menu, which took social media by storm. Pawrents can order dog-tailored dishes from The Great ‘Hound,’ the pet-friendly eating area surrounding The Great Hall, in-room dining, or as take-out to enjoy on outdoor adventures while exploring the beauty of Jasper.
It's not just we humans that like to be pampered!
