Jubefest was a hit last summer in Edmonton and Calgary, so Alberta's Jubilees are continuing with Jubefest 2022. In both cities, live music is on tap each Thursday evening, (and in Calgary, on Fridays too). Alberta-based artists will be presented just outdoors of each Jubilee building in intimate settings. Bring a friend, a lawn chair or blanket and get ready to experience a lovely evening out. Local craft beverages will be for sale at all events.

Maria Dunn Thursday August 11 7:30 p.m.

A true preserver of the spirit of folk music, 2022 JUNO-winning Maria Dunn is often compared to Woody Guthrie for her keen social awareness and her melodic, unvarnished songs about the lives of working people. By the time she began writing her own music in the mid-90s, Maria was learning to draw deeply on the folk tradition of storytelling through song to honour “ordinary” people, past and present.

Garth Prince Wednesday August 17 7:30 p.m.

Garth Prince is a JUNO award-winning vocalist, drummer, educator, and recording artist delivering engaging concerts and workshops treating audiences to a taste of his native homeland in southern Africa. Joy radiates through his original songs and his arrangements of traditional folk songs, taking listeners on a musical safari. His latest children’s album with picture-book garnered him multiple award nominations including JUNO and Canadian Folk Music Awards in 2022.
