Italian-stye celebration comes to Sherwood Park this weekend

Alberta-based, family-owned and operated grocer invites fans of all ages to a FREE celebration in Sherwood Park on Saturday, September 11.

A wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano is ready to be cracked, fresh Italian sausages are set for the grill and San Pellegrino is chilling on ice! On Saturday, September 11 from 11am-4pm, the Italian Centre Shop will host a FREE celebration featuring live entertainment, cooking demos, carnival games and more at the newly minted Sherwood Park store at 8005 Emerald Drive.

"What better way to say thank you to the community for such a warm welcome than a safe gathering to kick-off autumn in our new home." said Teresa Spinelli, President of Italian Centre Shop. "After just a few weeks - the people of Sherwood Park feel like family and it's our tradition to celebrate and share our blessings with new neighbours and their families."

To comply with current COVID-19 guidelines, festivities will be held outside in the store's ample parking lot. Staff, vendors and volunteers will be masked and the public is encouraged to follow suit.

"Mr. (Frank) Spinelli would be so proud to see the little shop he built 62 years ago in Little Italy has grown and expanded outside of Edmonton." said Joe Antonucci, Sherwood Park store manager. "I'm honoured to be part of a team that continues his legacy in being of service to our neighbours and sharing the Italian passion for food and family."

The Italian Centre Shop is Alberta's largest family-owned specialty food retailer and grocer, currently operating five locations in Edmonton, Calgary and Sherwood Park.

Founded in 1959 by Frank Spinelli and led today by daughter Teresa, the Edmonton-based grocer stocks local and imported produce, European specialty foods and products, and provides wholesale distribution to over 800 restaurants across Alberta.
