Just as Alberta enters another Stage 1 of re-opening, with outdoor patios, haircuts and physical activities allowed again, one of Edmonton's biggest summer festivals has hit the pause button.

Today, Northlands announced K-Days will not take place this summer, citing in a statement that rather than having an event simply to have it in 2021, Northlands would work to relaunch in 2022.

"We looked at whether we could deliver a high-quality event given the timelines and resources. Following discussions with the City of Edmonton and Explore Edmonton we made the difficult decision," the statement read.

In terms of 2022 and beyond, Northlands is in talks with Explore Edmonton about the future of both K-Days and Farmfair International. K-Days is tentatively set to return July 22-31, 2022.
