Calgary Stampede's drive-thru fair foods: Don't miss the mini-donuts

Cotton candy, corn dogs, funnel cakes--even free pancakes: they're all back even though the Stampede is not during the 2020 summer of COVID-19.

Plenty of Stampede fans are lamenting the lack of the rodeo and exhibition this year, but hold on--there's still a chance to get your fix of fair foods thanks to a Stampede food truck rally running July 3-12.

"We may not be able to gather together or celebrate in traditional ways during Stampede 2020, but that won't stop Stampede spirit from shining through during the ten days in July," wrote a Calgary Stampede spokesperson online.

Mark your calendar and head to the Stampede grounds (between 12 and 25 Ave on Macleod Trail) for special events and delicious snacks, drive-thru style. Check social media too, to see what trucks will be on site which days. Start with for details.

From noon to 9 p.m. on July 6-7 and 9-11, it's a mini-donut drive-thru. The website has a promotion which offers free gate admission to next year's Stampede with purchase, so check it out before you go.

Just like old times, Wednesday, July 8 is all about the free pancakes. This requires advance sign-up--see website for details.

How does Dr. Pepper pulled pork poutine sound? Maybe Nova Scotia lobster rolls? Butterbeer ice cream?  Catch at least something of the Stampede Spirit at this free admission event, and a belly full of delicious eats too.

To keep safe during COVID-19, the Stampede is asking people to only pull up to the drive-thru in their cars--no walk-ups, bicycles, scooters or otherwise allowed. There's also a ban on tailgating, gathering or parking in Stampede Park to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines about mass gatherings.
