- 1 lb ground turkey or lean ground beef
- 1 lb Italian style sausage
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
- 1 cup shredded zucchini
- 1 egg
- 1-1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1-1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp salt
1 cup of your favourite pasta sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella or mixed Italian cheeses
Preheat oven to 400.
Combine all the ingredients for the meatballs and mix thoroughly. Form approx. 24 golf-ball size meatballs and place in 9x13” casserole dish.
Bake for 30 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through. Carefully drain about 1/2 of the cooking liquid from the casserole dish (leaving some liquid for flavour and moisture).
Top with the sauce and cheese. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted (or broil quickly to brown the cheese).
