We have lost our beautiful Mom. She is
lovingly remembered by her children, Tracey
(Brian Arneson), Kelly (Len Cornez) and Paul
(Melissa); and by her 8 grandchildren, Justin,
Thomas, Taylor, Sage, Boden, Ashlyn, Liam
and Zac; and her sister Gail Kalin, along with
all of her relatives and so many friends.

Mom was an unwavering and true, bright light
in an often-dark world; having devoted herself
wholly and unselfishly to her family, husband,
children, grandchildren and friends her entire
life, before Alzheimer’s changed her forever.
No words can describe how Mom’s example,
wisdom and guidance shaped us or how big a
heart she had to share with those who knew
and loved her. Profoundly kind and generous
of spirit, she was our mother, of course; but so
much more to so many. To Mom, there were
no strangers, she loved people. Mom saw life
through rose-colored glasses and genuinely
believed in the good in everyone. She was
a homemaker, a hard-working entrepreneur,
the stealth leader of our family. Mom was a
supreme optimist, a teacher, progressive,
smart, loving, joyful, funny. She laughed
often. Right to the end, her wide and beautiful
smile captured everyone. She lived in dignity,
and steadfastly honoured those she knew
and loved.

Mom was predeceased by the love of her life,
Roy Paul Deplaedt, in February, 2019. Having
first met when they were children, Mom and
Dad were married at the Sacred Heart Church,
in Melita, Manitoba on December 21, 1963
and celebrated 55 years together before Dad
passed away. In their life together, Mom and
Dad made a stable home, built businesses,
travelled extensively, cultivated many
friendships, had fun together, weathered
every storm; and gave everything they had to
us and to our own children. No ask was too
great. And though both are now gone from
this world, they will forever be missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate
your support by making a donation to the
Oilfields Hospital Palliative Ward, or by
donating some volunteer time at your local
seniors home. To send condolences, please

An informal Tribute and Celebration of Life
for Mom and Dad is planned for Sunday,
October 2, 2022 at the Crystal Shores
Beach House, 403 Milligan Drive, Okotoks,
from noon until 5:00 pm. Please drop by
to share your stories, a hug, and a toast in
Mom and Dads’ honour. We look forward
to seeing those who knew and loved our
wonderful parents.
