Bourdeau, Carolyn

1949 – 2022

Beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend – Carolyn Ann Bourdeau of St. Albert passed away on June 9, 2022, after suffering a stroke at the age of 72.

She will be forever remembered by her husband of 51 years, Gerry; along with her three sons: Christopher (Stephanie), Gregory and Stephen (Lyndsay); five grandchildren: Luc, Jillian, Natalie, Bennet, and Samantha; brother, Stephen; and other family.

Carolyn was born in Listowel, Ontario, to Carl and Dorothy Field. As a child, she moved to Ottawa but still spent her summers with family in Niagara-on-the-Lake. She met Gerry – he had a great car! – and young love led to marriage in 1971. After a wonderful honeymoon in Europe and some time living in Toronto, the two began a family and eventually moved to Orleans. In 1985, the couple made the difficult decision to pursue new opportunities and move west to Alberta, settling into their new life in St. Albert. Carolyn’s days were busy running the house and raising a young family. Between keeping the boys out of trouble (mostly), school, sports (so many sports), and volunteering in the community in school lunch programs, Scouts, and other activities, the years seemed to fly by. As her kids became adults, Carolyn and Gerry had more time to travel and do other things. Weddings brought daughters-in-law into the family, and then grandchildren entered the picture. Carolyn had new energy as she took the title of Nana and the important role of nurturing the next generation.

A Service in memory of Carolyn will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home in Edmonton, 10011 – 114 Street NW.

Carolyn had many charities she supported – the St. Albert Food Bank, Santa’s Anonymous, the Mustard Seed, and Diabetes Canada. Donations may be made in Carolyn’s name to any of these wonderful organizations.
