With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, on March 31, 2021 at the age of 89.  Helen was born in Larry’s River, NS, the youngest child of Geneva (nee Pettipas) and Augustus.  She will be lovingly remembered her daughter Jean (Alan) Skip of Grande Prairie; grandsons, Cameron of Grande Prairie, and Curtis of St. Albert; special niece, Mary (Brian) Richard; friend Madeleine Lovsin who loved Helen as her ‘Nana’; dear friend Rose; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Helen was predeceased by her parents; husband Joseph; son Jerome; brothers: William, Dan, John, and Sylvester; sisters: Louise (Theodore) Avery, Mary (Bruce) Cole, and Rose McGirr; and two siblings in infancy.

Helen and her beloved Joe moved from Larry’s River in 1969 to Hay River, NWT to raise their family.  As a lifelong devotion to her Catholic faith, Helen was instrumental in founding the Catholic Woman’s League in Larry’s River and maintained her membership throughout her life and contributed to her church community in any capacity she could.  She spent many years taking care of children and was well known in her community for baking for the neighbourhood children.  Helen and Joe moved from NWT to Alberta in 1992 and spent many wonderful years there until Joe’s death in 2006.  She had many friends and was happiest when she was in the company of her loved ones.

A private Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
