It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our beloved mother. Dorothy passed away peacefully at her residence, The Manor Village at the Groves of Varsity, on December 25, 2020. Dorothy was born and raised on a farm near Alsask, Saskatchewan. After her schooling she moved to Calgary to work and attend night school. During world war two, she worked for the Government Ration Administration. Dorothy married Jack on December 8, 1943. They owned and operated a mixed farming operation in the Bearspaw area, until they retired. Dorothy loved farm life and the animals, her greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was blessed with exceptional culinary skills and got great joy from baking and cooking her wonderful meals for family and friends. She loved living in the Bearspaw community where she enjoyed the companionship of her lifelong friends. Dorothy was a life member of the Glendale Woman’s Institute. Mom loved her family with all her heart and we loved her back. She will be remembered fondly and sorely missed. She was 94 years of age. She is survived by her children; Gordon (Jean), Donald (Carol), Lorraine and Robert (Linda), her seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and her brother Clifford (Tami) Dow. She was predeceased by; Jack, her husband of 69 years, her parents, David and Ella Dow and her Siblings, Willard, Erva, Roy, and Kathleen. Dorothy will be reunited with her husband, Jack, at Queen’s Park Cemetery during a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Cochrane Area Humane Society, 62 Griffin Industrial point, Cochrane, AB, T4C 0A3 . The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the caring staff at The Manor Village at the Groves of Varsity.
