It is with great sadness we announce
the passing of Jeffrey Scott MacIntyre on
June 3, 2022 in Okotoks, AB. Jeff was born on
September 16, 1947 in Toronto, ON to Clark
and Geraldine MacIntyre. Jeff played football,
travelled the world and studied to become a
teacher at the University of Toronto. Jeff was
passionate about teaching, life long learning,
coaching volleyball, and watching school sports
through out his career. Everyone at school knew
Jeff as “Mac”. He enjoyed 40 years being a
beloved teacher at Abbey Park HS and Queen
Elizabeth Park, in Oakville, ON, and Foothills
Composite HS in Okotoks, where he retired
from but continued to be a presence at most
school events. Always finding a way to connect
with and support his students. Exploring nature,
camping, wolf watching in Yellowstone each
summer, were some of his favorite ways to
spend his time. He loved history, ancestry,
and Scotland. You could find him visiting the
pubs in Europe while having a pint, turning a
stranger into a friend. Jeff moved to Okotoks
to be able to spend more time with his family
and be closer to his mountain adventures. Jeff
is survived by his sister Judy (Bill) Severs, his
nieces Lesley Hoyle and Stephanie (Chad)
Pottruff, great nephews Hayden, Landen and
Gavin and his great niece Sidney, all of Calgary,
as well as countless friends and extended
family. A quiet, humble man with a huge heart,
a quick wit and sense of humor, a creator of
many nicknames, who helped so many people;
Jeff will be extremely missed. In lieu of flowers,
please make a donation in Jeff’s name to a
charity of your choice. A grateful thank you
to the kind care team at the Foothills Country
Hospice. A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held
at The George Traditional House, Okotoks on
Sunday June 12 at 1:00 pm.
