Joseph “Josh” Samuel Halprin

April 28th 1949 to January 12th 2023

We are deeply saddened to share the death of Josh Halprin at the age of 73. Josh passed away gently with family by his side after a short battle with Alzheimers and Cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, daughter Sarah, son Michael (Rachael), his sisters Rokie and Megan, and brother David. As well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. He sets off to join all those that went before him, his parents Leonard and Miriam, brother Irving “Chucky” and many close extended family members and friends.

Josh was born in Winnipeg where he and Barb met and fell in love, living there until taking the bold move to the Bow Valley in 1979 with a toddler and newborn in tow. Living in Banff for a year and then ultimately making the move to Canmore, which would become home for the next few decades. Raising their children, starting a business, a Sign Shop which would become a local fixture. Cansign.

Josh loved his time in Canmore, enjoying his ritual morning coffee with the “crew”, easily making friends from all ages and at all places in life. He was renowned to be smart with a remarkable sense of humour and a mischievous grin that could be seen from afar. His ability to always find brevity, but be serious and assertive when required was a sight to see. There was not much that Josh couldn’t do or learn if he set his mind to it, and his mark can be seen all over Canmore.

His family and friends will all miss him terribly, but are reminded to enjoy life and always take time out for a laugh.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation to a charity of your choosing.
