She met her husband Joseph Kilar in Edmonton and they married in 1960. Within a couple of years they moved from Edmonton and began to run the family farm near Boyle. Lucille continued to teach as well as help Joseph on the farm and raise three sons. Lucille was an advocate of education for her boys as well as ensured they played the sports of hockey and baseball that she enjoyed. Lucille also spent a lot of her time supporting St Alphonsus, Boyle, and St Gabriel’s, Athabasca, Catholic Church’s and was an active member of the Catholic Women’s league. In her support of the CWL Lucille was elected to several local and provincial executive positions.
