William Clayton Knapp was born in Carstairs, Alberta, on October 21, 1934 to Ezra and Margarette Knapp.  He passed away at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie, Alberta May 26, 2022 after a long illness at the age of 87 years.  Clayton is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marion, his daughter Carol and son Bill (Karyn), grandchildren Lyndsay, William (Kate) and their son Farley, Robert (Elisha) and their children Eileen and Matthew, Allison (Brandon) and their children Tyson, Wyatt and Lena, Brianne (Tanner), Ryan (Kayleigh) and Riley.  He is also survived by his brother Glen (Judy), sister-in-law Helen and numerous nieces and nephews.  Clayton was predeceased by his father and mother, son Robert, brother Renfred and son-in-law Dan Sylvestre.  Clayton spent his career working for the City of Calgary, 1954-1989.  He was a proud Life Member of CUPE Local 37.

During his years living in the Windsor Park community Clayton was involved in the sports programs as sports director, coaching hockey, soccer and baseball which included flooding of the outdoor hockey rink and various other commitments.

After taking early retirement Clayton and Marion spent many happy hours at their cabin, travelled extensively and tried out activities such as hiking, cycling and skiing.  Clayton was an avid hunter throughout his life and had lots of stories to tell.

He was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  In addition to his family he had many good friends and will be greatly missed.

We are so grateful for the wonderful care he received at his Bethany home over the past nearly four years. We will cherish his memory as we move forward.

A private family Celebration of Life was held at the Knox United Church in Didsbury, AB. on Saturday June 25, 2022.  Interment to follow at a later date.
