George Gaetan Lakatos

It is with incredible sadness that the family of George Gaetan Lakatos announces his sudden passing on May 16, 2020, at the age of 58.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years Sharon Lakatos, his two daughters Candace Lakatos (Tenille) and Ashley Young (Kari), grandchildren Rylan, Brayden, Cadence and Jordan, stepmother Isabelle Lakatos, siblings Robert, Jimmy, Kathleen, Phillip and Gilberte and by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is predeceased by his mother Janette Lang, his father Vilimous Lakatos, and his brother Brian Akerley.

George was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick on April 21, 1962. In 1979 he moved to the area of Boyle, Alberta. He met the love of his life, Sharon in Grassland, and they were married shortly after. George and his wife moved across Canada, living in many of the provinces but eventually settled down and called Boyle home for the last 20 years. He loved his little community and he always did his best to support anyone however he could when they were in need. He, with the help of his wife, owned and operated the Whistle Stop Café for more than 2 years and despite being forced to close, they successfully built a foundation of love and support within the community, which meant so much to him.

George was known for his passion. He had a passion for life, for riding his motorcycle and most importantly for his family and friends. It did not matter what adversities he faced throughout his life, he was always known to find a way and always with a smile on his face. He was kind, he was generous, and he was the definition of a good man, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Always loved, never forgotten, forever missed.
