With heavy hearts, the family Katherine Lewicki announces her sudden passing on April 25, 2021 at the age of 91. Katherine will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her radiant smile that would literally light up a room and her over flowing generosity. Katherine was born on March 7, 1930 in the village of Milno, near Ternopil, Western Ukraine, and moved to Canada with her parents in 1936. Katherine was a faithful member of St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church for her entire married life. She was also a UCWLC member of St. Basil’s. Throughout her life, she was very spiritual and her faith was her mainstay during difficult periods in her life. Katherine will be missed by all at the Dr. Gerald Zetter Care Center where she volunteered her time for over 35 years visiting with staff and patients. Katherine also volunteered at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Center for 33 years. Katherine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Mike, foster son Frank (Diane) Mercredi. Frank and Diane have 2 sons: David (Jennifer), Kimberly and Thyrone; Robert and daughter Jillian. Immediate family: brothers Nick (Ruth), Allan (Margaret); sister Madeliene; sisters in-law: Violet, Olga, Stella, and Mary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. Katherine was predeceased by her parents Michael and Anna; infant sister Maria; son Michael; brother Walter; parents in-law Harry and Sophie Lewicki; brothers in-law: Mike, Nick, John, Alvin, and Walter. Special thank you to Melanie, Liana, Joanne and Dwayne, as well as numerous friends and neighbors who assisted Katherine and Mike and allowed them to maintain living in their own home until the time of her passing. A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the St. Isidore Church in Plamondon, Alberta. The funeral will be live-streamed starting at 2:00 pm. The livestream will be on the St. Isidore, Plamondon, AB YouTube channel, or can be found at the St. Isidore web page. There will be a viewing at the church from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm. Internment to follow at the Plamondon Cemetery.
