On Friday, September 25, 2020, the world lost another great man. Mr. Robert Wayne Lewis, our loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away suddenly at the age of 68 years.
Wayne was born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 15, 1952 to Bob and Bernese Lewis. Wayne called Spruce View his home and dug his roots deep, in this small community. Growing up, his loves were family, farming with his dad, and pulling wrenches. The wrenches took him through a successful career, beginning with R. Angus in Red Deer; to owning his own company, West Central Heavy Duty Repair, serving Central Alberta and surrounding areas, with its hub in the same small community of Spruce View. This was perfect for Wayne; as he could lend a helping hand to friends, family and customers in his own special way. For everyone that Wayne met, they will remember his smile, his laugh, his ever ready hugs, and of course, his greeting of “hey bud”. If you didn’t find Wayne “head down – ass up” with work, he could surely be found enjoying his fish pond, spending time with family and friends, on the golf course, or packing his bags to escape with Jen, heading west to the Island, or South to Mexico.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and love of his life, his wife, Jen, his son, Ty, who filled his heart with so much pride, his mother, Bernese Lewis, his mother-in-law, Diane Scaplen, his sisters, Wendy (Dan), Brenda, Jacki (Barry), Lori, his brother, Bill (Suzette), his brother-in-law, Rick (Kim) and their daughter, Megan. He was Uncle Wayne to many cherished nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
Wayne was predeceased by his father, Bob Lewis, his father-in-law, Richard Scaplen and his brothers-in-law, Randy Dolphin and Stuart Piper. To honour Wayne, teach your children well, respect nature, stand up for something you believe in, and hold your loved ones near.
