It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our gentle friend, Michael William Joseph Gould. Mike passed away at Foothills Medical Centre in the early morning hours of July 16, 2021 after a short illness.

Mike was a man of the mountains. With his constant companion Lewis, and his trusty camera, he explored the mountains that captured his heart so many years ago. He had a special way of seeing magic in the early morning light as it danced on the mountain tops, or the moody look of a cloudy day over Canmore’s engine bridge. With the click of a shutter, he made art that continues to bring joy to the many people lucky enough to have invested in one of his lovingly crafted prints.

Mike was also a man of the movies, taking on varying jobs ranging from electrician, to lighting technician, and even best boy. The next time you watch movies like Inception, Snow Day, and The Assassination of Jesse James, take a moment to smile, and think of Mike.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Marie Louise Gould,  his brother Keith Gould, and his son Colin Bartleman Gould. He is survived by his brother Jim Gould of Mississauga, Ontario as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives he touched through his gentle nature, his incredible artwork, and his loving heart.

Rest well, my friend.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Drake in Canmore starting at 4:00 pm
