Eileen Margaret Miller passed away at Olds, Alberta on June 12, 2022 at the age of 83 years. She was born at Wetaskiwin, Alberta with twin sister Elizabeth (Betty) on October 22, 1938. She went to school in Wetaskiwin (to grade 8), at Morrin (grade 9) and took high school in Olds. Olds has been home since 1954. She came to Olds as a foster child and lived with Ferruccio and Gertrude Gardin in the Berrydale district. The twins lost their mother Jennie Peters when they were nine years old.

After working in Calgary for three years, Eileen worked in Olds as a legal secretary for twenty years and an accounting secretary for eleven years. Her passions have always been the farm, arabian show horses, playing fastball, curling, golfing, music and playing cards.

She married Donald Miller in 1960 and has lived in the Hainstock District since then. Breeding and showing Arabian horses for almost forty years was a source of fun and great pleasure. In 1968, Eileen was the first Canadian to win the "Legion of Merit" award from the International Arabian Horse Association which is the governing body for the Arabian Horse industry in North America. This award is won by accumulating points in various arabian competitions with one specific horse. As a young person Eileen played fastball with the Gas. Co. in Calgary and then with the Olds Ladies Wildcats as a catcher. She curled in Olds for most of her adult life. At the age of 60 she took up golf and absolutely loved it. At the age of 75 she learned to play bridge which became a favourite pastime.

Music was also one of her favourite things having come from a very musical family. Classic country, gospel and old-time dance music were her favourites.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents. Bert and Jennie Peters, brother Jim and twin sister Betty as well as one nephew and her foster parents, Ferruccio and Gertrude Gardin. She is survived by two nieces and two nephews and a host of friends which were very important to her.
