November 8, 1940 – February 26, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Louis Duquette, who passed away on February 26, surrounded by his loved ones.

Ron was born on November 8, 1940 to Fred and Cecile in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan. He was the oldest of five children (Denis, Rolande, Claude and Nicole). He grew up in Val Marie, Saskatchewan helping out on the family farm.

He met his wife Hope, who was teaching at the Val Marie school in 1971. Soon after Ron and Hope made a home in the foothills of Alberta, settling in Black Diamond 1978 and have lived there ever since.

Ron worked hard for the Town of Black Diamond in the Public Works department for 27 years and for his holidays he looked forward to helping his brother Claude with harvesting back in Saskatchewan. Ron always had a dog by his side and he had a passion for hockey and curling. He enjoyed spending summers at Crystal Lake, hunting, fishing, Sunday drives, gardening, he developed a love of wild birds, enjoyed music and loved to dance. He cherished his family and was so very proud of his four children: Randy, Sasha, Laurie and Renee.

Ron is predeceased by his parents Fred and Cecile, and his sister Rolande. He is forever remembered by his loving wife, Hope; his brothers, Denis (Margaret), Claude (Joan) and his sister Nicole (Robert) Bourgeois; his four children Randy (Cherra) Duquette, Sasha (Craig) Harriott, Laurie Duquette and Renee (Jason) Webster and his nine grandchildren, Makenna, Kole, Brody, Ainsley, Marley, Neko, Aubrey, Callie and Isla.

“Bye, bye blackbird..” Hope you are dancing with Grandma Cecile, love you Dad.

The family would like to thank all of the staff, especially the nurses at the Oilfields Hospital in Black Diamond for their compassion and dedication to ensuring comfort and care of Ron and family.

No service will take place. We appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.
