Harold Schielke, beloved husband, dad, grandpa, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday January 8, 2022 at the Foothills Hospital.

Harold was born in Sibbald Alberta to Anna and Emil Schielke on May 24, 1931.  Harold moved to Carstairs when he was six years old, and farmed Westview Farms Ltd. west of Carstairs with his father Emil and his brother Carl and family, where they earned the Alberta Master Farm Award in 1961.  After graduating from Carstairs High School, Harold went on to take Agriculture at Olds College.  Harold was active in the Carstairs 4-H Beef Club.  A member from 1943 - 1951, Assistant Club Leader 1952 - 1954, and Club Leader 1955 - 1961. 

Harold was a member of the Carstairs Chamber of Commerce since 1952, a member of the Carstairs Community Hall Board, and a voting member of his Church, as well as Church Secretary for 3 years.

He married Leona Hoffman April 24, 1954 in Claresholm, Alberta, and together resided on the farm until building a house and retiring to Carstairs in 1981.  Once in Carstairs Harold took on a job with maintenance at the Chinook Winds Lodge which he loved.  In 2016 Harold and Leona moved from Carstairs to the Crossfield Lodge where they lived for almost 6 years. 

Harold was also an active member of the Carstairs Lions where many hours of volunteer work were performed.

He is survived by his loving wife Leona of 67 years, and four children; Steve (Denyse), Stan (Sharon), Karen (Harry) and Sid (Lisa). He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters Norma Gouldie and Ruth Hanson, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Harold was predeceased by his mother Anna, father Emil, sister Alma, brother Carl, sister-in-law’s Bernice and Rena, and brother-in-law’s Don and Stan.

Harold will be remembered as the kind hearted/honest man he was, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  A family spring memorial will be held if possible.
