On July 21, 2020, Mrs. Leona Smyl of Mallaig passed away at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Leonard; children, Alex (Moni), Walter (Mary), Christine (Terry) Ostapiw, Felix (Adele), Maryann (Vic) Journault, Allen (Shauna), Kenny (Rachel) & Peter (Kayla); 24 grandchildren, Aime, Melissa, Andrea McClure, Matthew, Richard, Kevin, Amanda Miller, Tara Nixon, Trevor Ostapiw, Karrie Foisy, Kyle, Kolin, Alana Hempel, Rena Journault, Brianna Hebert, Brittany Brousseau, Bradley, Brandin, Austin, Danielle Houle, Travis, Garrett, Jackson & Charlie; 40 great-grandchildren; sister, Sophie (Marcel) Michaud; sister-in-law, Lorraine Kachmarchyk; numerous nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Chester & Honorata Kachmarchyk; 2 brothers, Dan & Eddie.
Private Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Jean de Brebeuf Roman Catholic Church, Mallaig. Reverend Father Raldy Jhack Diaz was the celebrant, with interment in St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Goodridge.
