Katherine (Kitty) Swaren

November 15, 1925 – October 8, 2020

It is with deep sorrow, that we mourn the passing of our much-loved mother and grandmother, Kitty Swaren. She passed peacefully on October 8th at the age
of 94.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five children – Ron of Rochester, Linda of Westlock, Becky of Calgary, Morley (Colette) of Westlock, and Anita (Ken) of Westlock; grandchildren – Jason, Stephen, Michael, Ryan, Tony, Nathan, Caitlin, Breanna, and Alannis; great grandchildren – Ashley, Ryan, Morgan, Lily, Autumn, Jake, and Danielle; great-great granddaughter – Lindsey; sisters-in-law – Lola, Dale, and Veronica.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Rollie, her parents Anna and Paul Hayduk, her siblings Steve, John, Joe, Mary, and Stanley. 

Kitty was born in Kalnikow, Poland and immigrated to a homestead near Round Hill, Alberta at the age of 2. She met Rollie Swaren in Camrose and married him after he returned from war. They lived in Red Water and moved to Westlock in 1951 where they stayed and raised their family. Kitty has been an active member of the CWL since its inception in 1956. She was supportive of young people through her involvement in the Guiding and Scouting movements. Kitty has touched many lives with her love and support and will be sadly missed.

Prayer service was held on Wed., Oct. 14th, at 7:30 pm at the Westlock Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thurs., Oct. 15th, at 11:00 am, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Father Ambrose officiating, with interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery. Donations gratefully accepted to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or Heart and Stroke c/o Westlock Funeral Home.
