In loving memory of Roger Alfred Van Hecke who lost his battle to mental illness on Sunday, July 12, 2020, at the age of 58 years. 

Roger is survived by his loving and devoted family; wife of 32 years, Judy, and children; Kasara (Jeremy) Cooper, Tanysha (Scott) Anderson, Dalin (Hannah), & Nakysta as well as grandchildren Krystalyn, Joelyn, & Ezekiel Cooper. His siblings; Marcel( Janet), Helene (Dan) Carruthers, Yvonne (Bill) Paterson, Maurice, Louise (Mark) Larkin, Marie (Jim) Devolder, Paul (Elizabeth), Cecile (Dave) Yaremcio, & Roland (Kerry), as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Roger was predeceased by parents, Albert & Jeanne Van Hecke, and sisters, Denise & Annette, sister-in-law Marie Vansevenandt, and niece Aimee Van Hecke.

Roger had a natural aptitude as a mechanic. His forte was working in both the construction and agricultural industries. He had a sincere love for farming, trapping, gardening, and took much pleasure in God’s gift of nature.

A husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend – this is the legacy we have from you. You taught us to always do our best and follow our dreams. Your work ethic and love for teaching others prevails you. You fought hard through your struggles. We pray for you; the peace you deserve. We love you and we will eternally keep you in our hearts and prayers.

Due to COVID restrictions, his Catholic funeral mass will be a private service with invite-only. To allow those who loved Roger from near and far, his funeral will be made available to view online as well. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Do More Ag, a non-profit organization focusing on changing the culture of agriculture to one where all producers are encouraged, supported, and empowered to take care of their mental well-being.
