With this, all three of our locations have been renovated to better serve the families we care for - from the traditional funeral service for all cultural and religious denominations, to the more contemporary, personalized gatherings that celebrate a life well-lived.
The past three years have been immensely challenging for the families we serve.
During Covid, families were restricted to small or nonexistent services, and they struggled to say goodbye in a time that didn’t allow us to gather together, share stories, shed a tear, or even a hug. To this day families have expressed how difficult this was for them.
During this unprecedented time, we strove to provide the care and service to help our families through their loss, honouring their loved one, without sacrificing the level of service we have prioritized through our 114-year history.
We became creative in how we met this challenge, providing opportunities to celebrate our loved ones through the use of livestreams and technology, and the adaptation of our spaces to provide a cozier, more comfortable, environment for smaller gatherings.
This experience highlighted what we have all been missing, and emphasized the impact of what we can provide: a space to commemorate for everyone.
As we emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic, we believe this is the time to lead with even more options for the families we serve.
When it came time to renovate the Edmonton South location, we knew it had to be extensive and forward-thinking. Our well-appointed, modern facility is full of adaptable places to gather: inside, on our patio, and our Garden of Reflection, which is nestled on the scenic grounds of Our Lady of Peace Cemetery and adjacent to South Haven Cemetery.
Our vision is to allow much more freedom of expression for our families to gather and pay tribute to their loved ones, offering an extensive range of possibilities for Life Tributes, Traditional Funerals, Celebrations of Life, Services of Remembrance, and Private Family time.
What emerged is a state-of-the-art facility featuring 2 indoor large gathering areas, 5 smaller Tribute rooms, and the outdoor spaces, designed to host a variety of personalized events and gatherings.
Modern and flexible, the versatility makes it both grand and comfortable for any type of final goodbye that a family could want. Our professional team will help families design the perfect event that suits their family and highlighting the life of their loved one.
The Centre is perfectly suited to host a reception following a Traditional Funeral or Memorial Service, or it can be used for a more contemporary Celebration of Life Event.
In addition to creating the perfect setting to commemorate a loved one, the versatility of our well-appointed and spacious room - as well as the nature-setting patio – it was also important to create a place for community groups to hold meetings, anniversary celebrations, or other events.
The Private Cremation Tribute Centre was also retrofitted to allow families a space that suited their needs for a simple goodbye before or after cremation. Many families don’t want something more than this, so it is a perfect place for them to host close family and friends, much like they would in their own homes. The space also offers complete audio and visual accommodations, and an outdoor gathering area. With this, families can come and have an informal goodbye, refreshments, and also observe the cremation if they wish.
