Airdrie celebrates Youth Week

Canada celebrates its young people this week with Canada's National Youth Week from May 1 to 7. The City of Airdrie is hosting numerous events from May 3 to 6.

Starting on Friday, May 3, the City hosts a Teen Night at Genesis Place.

Youth ages 12 to 18 will receive free admission to Genesis Place during Teen Night after checking in. Youth are invited to swim, attend open gym, use the weight rooms, and visit the Youth Resource Fair.

At the same time, the Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie welcomes youth to a PJ party and video game palooza at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

The majority of events take place on Saturday, May 4, starting with a campfire at Airdrie’s Nose Creek Regional Park. Youth are welcome to roast marshmallows from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. hosted by the Airdrie Pride Society.

The Airdrie Public Library then hosts two events at 2 p.m., including Junior Dungeons & Dragons One-Shots and Graphic Novels: A Gateway to Literacy with Alex Finbow. Then, at 5:30 p.m. the Legends of Logomancy team will teach youth all about starting a podcast.

For those wanting a free fitness class, peer meditation and skills training (PMAST) welcomes teens and their guardians to Genesis Place at 6:45 p.m.

Finally on Monday, May 6, the Airdrie Public Library welcomes youth to their miniature paint club at 4 p.m.
