Portage College welcome Korea University Tigers to Lac La Biche

NHL's Battle of Alberta on between Edmonton and Calgary on TV, battle of the world on Bold Center ice as Portage takes on Korea

A few hundred hockey fans were at Lac La Bich's Bold Center for Saturday night's exhibition hockey game between the Portage College Voyageurs and the Korea University Tigers.

The puck dropped at 7 pm. Saturday. In an early update on the game, the Voyageurs were up by one at the end of the second period.

The game is one of a dozen exhibition games the Tigers are playing across Alberta in January and February, taking on each team in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). While the games offer fans and players something different, they are also meant as a sample of what could become a mainstay, as the Tigers are hoping to join the ACAC in an coming season.

Details on what that partnership could mean are still part of on-going discussions.

The game with the Voyageurs is the third game of the Tigers' tour. The Korean team arrived in Lac La Biche on a two game winless streak, losing earlier in the month the NAIT and Concordia teams.

The Lac La Biche POST newsroom will have an update on the game and reaction in a following update.
