Fit Law: A New Approach to Legal Practice

SPONSORED CONTENT – In an industry often defined by tradition, one firm is breaking the mold.

Fit Law, a new dynamic legal practice based in Edmonton and serving the surrounding areas, is redefining what it means to be a law firm. Launched last year by founding partners and lawyers Nancy Strong and Patti Macdonald, Fit Law provides a fresh, relatable, approach to legal services.

"We saw an opportunity to practice law and connect with our clients in a whole new way," explains Strong. "To be as nimble and adaptable as we wanted to be, we needed to be out on our own."

The firm provides services in a range of legal disciplines, including wills and estates, commercial real estate, small business, lending, corporate and commercial transactions, and franchise law. They strive to help their clients understand their transactions, ensuring they leave the office feeling confident rather than frustrated and confused.

In addition, Fit Law has moved away from the traditional “billable hour” method common in larger firms, opting instead for a flat fee, advance quoted billing system. This approach, Strong notes, allows them to focus more on their clients' needs rather than watching the clock.

Fit Law's ability to adapt and change has been a key factor in their success.

"We can try new ideas more easily," says Strong, adding that they work with amazing clients whom they genuinely like. “The firm's size and agility allow us to innovate and respond to changing circumstances quickly, a quality that has proven invaluable in our first year of operation.”

This adaptability extends to their approach to challenges as well. While being a small and new firm may limit immediate resources for now, Fit Law is proud of its robust network of referral partners with other boutique firms. Strong sees this as an opportunity to ensure their clients are fully serviced, even in areas of law they do not practice.

For the co-founders, the rewards of launching Fit Law far outweigh the challenges.

"Doing the work we love with people we love to work with is the greatest reward,” says Strong. “We have the freedom to choose our work and clients, ensuring that every case is a good fit for the firm.”

As female entrepreneurs, they have a message for other women considering a similar path: "Know your value, know what you want, and do what you need to do to get it – nobody else will do it for you. You’ve got this!"

Fit Law may be a new player in the legal scene, but they're certainly not standing still. They've recently moved into their permanent office as they continue to grow. As for the future?

"Stay tuned!" Strong promises, hinting at exciting things to come.

In a world where change is the only constant, Fit Law is a great example of how adaptability, client focus, and a fresh approach can redefine an industry. Their journey is a testament to the power of believing in your value and daring to do things differently.
