LETTER: Health care workers deserve our gratitude, not disrespect

'I would like to thank all the ER nurses and especially Dr. Cenaiko for the wonderful care we received at the Sturgeon Hospital.'

I would like to thank all the ER nurses and especially Dr. Cenaiko for the wonderful care we received at the Sturgeon Hospital. It was two long days of numerous tests and waiting regarding a serious health concern with my daughter, but the staff was extremely thorough and for that I am grateful and very thankful!

Speaking of grateful, I truly hope a fellow health designate who was in the waiting room with us reads this letter, "grateful" being the key word.

We live in a country that provides free health care 24 hours a day. Your family came to this country for a better life (as did mine) and I’m sure by your entitled attitude, you did get that. Your rants about your long wait were unnecessary, rude, and heard by everyone in the waiting area. I did not know your mother’s health issues, but you also did not know anyone else’s in that room or what they have been through. Your constant harassment of the triage nurses was disgraceful. ER is not first come, first served.

The health care workers have been dealing with so much in the past two years, and after being in the midst of it, just for two days, I can’t imagine how exhausted they are. More gratitude should be practiced, especially with all the horrific things happening in this world today.

T. Wygle, Sturgeon County
