Re: "I vow to unseat any councillor who supports the MEC, solar farm," Letters, The Gazette, Aug. 18.
I must say I was quite intrigued with Bill Rugg's arguments up until I read the end of paragraph six in which he so confidently suggested that: “Both Alberta and the federal government are bankrupt.”
Now it is possible for a provincial government, as a currency user, to go bankrupt. However, Canada’s federal government, or the country for that matter, is the country’s currency issuer and can never ever go broke. Canada as a country will never cease to exist.
So unfortunately, while I was initially intrigued with the author’s train of thought, it came to a halting end upon reading that erroneous statement. It created doubt in my mind as to the credibility of his previous thoughts. Sorry.
