Kudos to Gazette reporter Kevin Ma for his articles and photos of the tiny birds who cheer us on chilly winter days.
Mr. Ma's article in the Jan. 19 Gazette about the Rupertsland institute and the work of Billie Jo Grant and Lisa Cruickshank is very uplifting. The Metis Mosaic Mural by Lewis Lavoie, inspired by accounts in "Metis Memories of Residential Schools," has luminous and poignant scenes which weave a wonderful tapestry of the indomitable spirit of the survivors.
Art has the power to heal, and this exceptional mural will help people honour the unique Metis culture and appreciate the gifts that Metis people contribute to the diverse Canadian cultural mosaic.
