Two Morinville men have been arrested after a break and enter ended with a pursuit and shots being fired.

On Monday Parkland RCMP responded to a call of a home invasion at a rural residence in the area north of Highway 16 on Range Road 264.

The female homeowner heard someone trying to break down the garage door and called her husband, who arrived home in time to see several people entering a car that was parked in the driveway.

When the husband confronted the individuals, the car fled the scene. The man followed the suspects in his vehicle when one of the car’s occupants shot at him. He immediately stopped and called the police to update them on the situation.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The RCMP were able to locate the car but the occupants fled the scene on foot.

With the help of the Edmonton Police Services Helicopter Air One and RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), police were able to find all five suspects in the bush near the car.

The car and the license plate were determined to be stolen out of Edmonton.

The five suspects were arrested without incident.

RCMP PDS returned in the daylight to the area where the subjects had been apprehended and located stolen rifles and a quantity of drugs believed to be methamphetamine.

James Auigbelle, 25, of Morinville and Aaron Auigbelle, 34, of Morinville are facing 14 charges from the event, along with Elliot Steinhaeur, 21, of Saddle Lake, Chantel Cardinal, 24, and Dorian Hunter, 18, both of Edmonton.

The five all face charges of pointing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, residential break and enter with intent, assault with a weapon, possession of property obtained for the purpose of trafficking over $5,000 and possession of Methamphetamine.

Aaron Auigbelle is facing an additional two charges of possession of weapons contrary to order and failure to surrender to authorization.

Steinhauer is also facing two additional charges of possession of contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization along with failing to comply with a probation order.

All five have appeared for their bail hearing and Hunter and Cardinal were released with a recognizance. Their first appearance was at Stony Plain provincial Court today.

Steinhauer, Aaron Auigbelle and James Auigbelle were remanded into custody and will appeared by CCTV today at the Stony Plain Provincial Court.
