St. Albert man dies from COVID-19

The man was in his 80s and died on Dec. 4 from a COVID-19 outbreak at the Youville Home in St. Albert.

A man in his 80s died on Dec. 4 from a COVID-19 outbreak at the Youville Home in St. Albert.

The man was one of 15 Albertans whose deaths were announced Dec. 9.

St. Albert currently has 345 active cases of COVID-19, with 700 people having recovered since the start of the pandemic. Alberta Health Services has officially listed four deaths so far in St. Albert, though several people who died at the St. Albert Retirement Residence have not been included in that number.

 

In the past 24 hours, 21 new cases were diagnosed in St. Albert, while 36 people recovered from the virus.

 

In the province there are 73,488 total cases since the beginning of the pandemic, with 1,460 diagnosed in the past 24 hours. There are 20,199 active cases with 52,636 people having recovered.

A total of 653 people have died so far from the illness.

Some 685 people are in the hospital with the virus provincewide and 121 of them are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Around 16,800 tests were run yesterday with a provincial positivity rate of 8.9 per cent.

Sturgeon County has 112 active cases with 270 people recovered to date. Morinville has 53 active cases with 120 people recovered to date.
