The Quarry Golf Course is hosting a powerful event in memory of the late Logan Hunter.

On July 13, 216 golfers will gather for the 3rd Annual Logan Hunter Memorial Golf Tournament, a tribute to the promising young Humboldt Broncos hockey player whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating bus collision.

The tournament, launched in the wake of the tragedy, is more than just a golf event; it is a celebration of Hunter's life, his love for sport, and his unforgettable spirit. It's also a crucial fundraiser for the Logan Hunter Memorial Fund.

The Memorial Fund was established by a family friend shortly after the tragedy, with an initial generous donation intended to ensure that Hunter's legacy would continue to thrive. Proceeds from the tournament will go directly to this fund, supporting initiatives dear to Hunter and his family.

"Logan was prepared well for the challenges of Junior A hockey, being in the top list of Rookie for scoring that season in the SJHL," said Hunter's mother, Shauna Nordstrom, "Our family just knew Logan would want others to have opportunities for training during the off-season."

The Logan Hunter Memorial Fund has since sent five dedicated hockey players, who embody Hunter's work ethic and passion for the sport, to receive intensive training through Seven Hockey, the program that helped Hunter develop physically and mentally.

But the fund's generosity doesn't stop at the hockey rink.

Hunter's love for the links is also honored through an annual donation to junior golf, another testament to his active, friendly nature.

"Logan loved golf. That was his way to relax. He always wanted to be with friends, being active," Nordstrom said.

Hunter is also remembered as an animal lover and the tournament helps support other organizations in need.

"The fund is for Logan's legacy and that's to give back to all the things Logan believed in and were important to him," Nordstrom says, listing support for animal shelters like Saving Grace Animal Rescue and Zoe's Animal Rescue, contributions to Jessie's House — a sanctuary for those escaping domestic violence — and donations to Indigenous sport programs.

“We are proud of our Metis heritage, and we want to show support as part of Logan's legacy.”
