1954 - 2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Paulette “Charlie” Madeleine Godin-Donovan on February 19, 2024, at the age of 69 years.

Charlie was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm, near Henribourg, Saskatchewan with her three brothers and one sister. Charlie excelled in sports, playing basketball and softball. Her softball team was inducted into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame in 1990.

Charlie left Prince Albert in 1983 and began a career in finance. She worked for Scotiabank for 36 years in various positions in the capital region. During her time at the bank Charlie also served as a volunteer member of the chamber of commerce. She met long time St. Albert resident Hugh and they married in 1989; their family set deep roots in the community while sharing 35 years of marriage.

After retiring from Scotiabank, she spent her years happily volunteering at the St. Albert Food Bank and was very proud of being the only female driver at the food bank until illness prevented her from volunteering further.

Charlie is survived by her husband, Hugh; and her children: Connor (Vienna), Jenna (Darcy), and Tyler (Amelia); as well as her grandson, Code.

Charlie was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Pauline Godin; and her in-laws, Doonie and Stevie Donovan.

Cremation has taken place. An evening of reflection with the urn present will be held on Monday, March 4th, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute for all their hard work and support, as well as the Staff at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Center.

In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Cross Cancer Institute.
