Linda Mary Jane Hoomana

1946 Sep 05 – 2022 Nov 11

Leaving many heavy hearts, Linda passed away at Carewest Sarcee in Calgary. The fourth child born to Thomas and Margaret Beattie, Linda grew up and was educated in Cochrane.  She will be dearly missed by her beloved daughter, Tanya Hoomana.  Athletic in her youth, Linda loved being outdoors and was a lifeguard at the Cochrane pool during her high school years.  After graduation, she led an adventurous life. After completing the Registered Nursing Aid designation, her career spanned hospitals across Alberta, British Columbia and even Hawaii as a private patient caregiver/companion..

Linda was a devoted mother to Tanya exhibiting kindness and jolly collaboration among family and friends.  With a beverage in hand, she was always up for a chat.  Unafraid of hard work, Linda assisted family and friends with gardening and many other projects. She was a member and volunteer at the Cochrane Legion and, later, at Olds.  Linda travelled to the Philippines, Australia and Japan on her own and, later, with Tanya to Aruba, Las Vegas, the Maritimes where they hiked the Cabot Trail.  Later in life, Linda endured lung cancer treatment with tenacity and positivity.

Linda’s memory is held close by daughter, Tanya Hoomana and her siblings: Marion Fenton (Bill Bachynski); David Beattie (Ann), Bob Beattie (Carmen) and Timothy Beattie. Linda was the “fun” aunt to Karen Anhorn, Tom Fenton, Laurie O’Shaunghnessy, Teresa Hurshman (Rick; Tyler); Bill Johnson (Lisa Bouchard; Tyson and Jennifer); Malcolm Beattie (Benjamin) and Sean Beattie (Megan; Amelia and Fiona).  Her extended family: Jim Scott; Shayelyn, Briley, Tayanah and Haydyn Scott. Many good friends supported her in Cochrane and Didsbury.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, her dear sister, Gloria Johnson (March 2022), her niece, Deborah Scott, brother-in-law, Fred Johnson and niece, Kim Johnson.  Tanya and family extend warm thanks to Carewest Sarcee’s management and staff for the care Linda received over the last few months.

Celebration of Linda’s life is 3:00pm Thursday, December 01 at Cochrane Country Funeral Home (#6, Sundance Mall, 402 Railway Street West, Cochrane AB  T4C 2B6 tel: 403 932 1039) (https://cochranecountryfuneral.com)
