The party didn't start until he walked in.

Laurier (Larry or Butch) Bouchard passed away on June 27th, 2021. He was born July 3, 1944 in Alban, Ontario.  Butch married the love of his life, his teen sweetheart Lorraine, at 18 and they were married for 58 years. Butch and Lorraine moved from northern Ontario to settle near Oakville ON, where he worked at the Ford Motor Co and they raised their 2 daughters, Jo-Anne and Gidget.  After 30 years of life in the truck plant, he retired back to northern Ontario where they bought a real farm.  He thought that Green Acres was the place to be.  After 10 years retired, he changed his mind, packed up, and he and Lorraine moved to Edmonton, Alberta to be close to his grandchildren, Zoé, Maïa, and Christopher.  He started a 2nd career fracking and working as the MacGyver for Tim Hortons. But his true passion was babysitting his grandchildren. Someone had to teach them dirty songs and swear words.  Butch was larger than life.  It is easier to tell you what Butch didn't know how to do than to list all the things that he could do.  But here's something.  Butch never complained.  His laugh and smile will fill our hearts forever.

A special thank you to Unit 17 and Unit 29 of the Sturgeon Hospital.  Dr. Suen and his team (Emma, Rebecca, Jill, Jasmine, Stephanie, Natalya our hearts to your hearts) need to be mentioned for the exceptional care they gave to Butch and the support that they gave to Lorraine.  Angels walk among us.

And please don't cry when you think of Butch.  He wouldn't want that.  In lieu of tears, please buy yourself a case of beer and enjoy it, preferably cold and all at the same sitting.  Butch didn't leave us, he's just gone fishing.

His Celebration of Life will be in Noëlville, Ontario, at a date and time to be determined. To participate in the upcoming video stream, please contact [email protected] for information.
