With hearts full of treasured memories, the Grey Nuns announce the passing of Sister Antoinette Cyre at Youville Auxiliary Hospital, St. Albert on February 17, 2021 at the age of 97.

Sister was born in Riviere Qui Barre, Alberta on June 20, 1923. She joined the Grey Nuns on August 5, 1941 in St. Albert. In 1944, she made her first profession. In 1947, she pronounced her perpetual vows in Montreal. She went to university to acquire her degree for teaching. She served in Blue Quills, St. Paul, AB, Beauval, Ile-a-la- Crosse, and Biggar, SK.; also in Morinville, AB. Later she was responsible for the Vocation Ministry. In Saskatoon she was responsible for pastoral care in Holy Spirit Parish. Her fruitful missionary spirit was spent in Yellowknife, NT, doing pastoral ministry in St. Patrick’s Parish. Her generosity in service, her ability to help the poor, tireless in work and her peaceful approach to each person were noticed by all who worked with her. She was an amazing co-worker.

She leaves to mourn her Grey Nun Sisters; her nieces and nephews and the many friends she made during her time in Yellowknife. Our deepest sympathies to her nephews and nieces who loved her dearly.

The Grey Nuns would like to thank the staff at Youville Home for their dedicated and loving care during her two years in Long Term Care.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass was celebrated and interment followed at St. Albert Catholic Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Covenant Health Youville Home, 9 St. Vital Ave., St. Albert, Alberta.
