Surrounded by family, Hans Forbrich of St. Albert, passed away peacefully at the age of 68.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Susanne; children, Karas (Aaron), Chris (Courteney), and Alex; brother, Alfred (Ronnie); sister, Angelika (Ray); grandchildren, Trinity (Drew), Fen, Casey, and Carsten; uncle, Reinhard (Debbie); nieces, Katrina, Monika, and Claudia; nephew, Logan; and extended family and friends in Canada, United States, Germany and throughout the world. He will also be missed by his many colleagues from Nortel, DLGL, Oracle, and ExitCertified.

Hans’ passion for music was expressed in many ways, including singing with the Edmonton Opera chorus, the Richard Eaton Singers, Opera Lyra Ottawa chorus and Pop Goes The Opera. He was an avid walker and volunteered as registration host and impromptu announcer with the St. Albert Trekkers Volkssport Club. He was an Oracle ACE Director and his knowledge of Oracle database products was unparalleled. He loved gadgets, new technology and never stopped learning.

A small memorial gathering is planned Sunday afternoon for family and close friends. A bigger celebration of his life will be organized in late September.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Edmonton Opera Association or Canadian Cancer Society.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital for their care and compassion.
