It is with heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, and great grandfather Rodney Kluthe on November 17, 2023 at the age of 84 years.

Rodney will be remembered by his children: Kevin, Dana, Darren, and Corlaine; son-in-law Duane Legge; grandchildren: Micheal, Kale, Logan, Keegan, Kiernan, Kirsten; great grandchildren: Maddox, Maverick, Ainsleigh, Emersyn and Brinley; and long-time family friend Olivia Flores.  He leaves behind a loving and caring family, survived by brothers-in-law Raymond Rumley and Jerry Charest; sisters-in-law Rita Campbell, Louise Charest, Joanne Knorr, and Alice Kluthe.

Rodney was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Marlene; parents John and Clara Kluthe; his brothers Joe, Ben, George, and Johnny; and his sisters Eileen Kaup and Bernice McDonell.

Rodney was born in the house he was raised in and lived on the farm all his life. He went right into farming with his father John on the homestead. He loved his Simmental cattle, and looked forward to driving his beloved combine every year. When he finally retired, you could see he dearly missed the harvest time, with that look in his eye every fall. As a young man, Rodney was a member of the Edmonton Griesbach Provost Corps (reserve). He was a crack shot and truly enjoyed the camaraderie.

Rodney loved his family, he loved camping, hunting and fishing. He travelled to Puerto Villarta many times with Marlene; it was their second home. Rodney and Marlene looked forward to travelling there and having a great time with all the friends they made over the years.

Hockey was a passion, he started out a Boston Bruins fan, watching Hockey Night in Canada religiously every Saturday night. His support changed when the Edmonton Oilers came on the scene; then, it was Oil all the way.

The family would like to thank all the medical staff at the Sturgeon Community Hospital and the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre for their excellent care and attention they provided to our Dad.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 between 7:00 and 8:00 pm in St. Albert Funeal Home, 9 Muir Drive.  Cremation will take place and a Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday, December 7 at 10:00 a.m. also in St. Albert Funeral Home.  A private family interment will follow.
