The family of Gordon Unger of St. Albert is saddened to announce his passing on July 14 at the age of 84 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 56 years, Marion; children: Kerry & Nikki, Teryl, and Karen; brothers Ron (Joan), Bob; sister Lydia (Roy); in-laws Jerry (Alvena), Carolle, Shirley, Sharon, Karin; and many extended family members. He will also be dearly missed by his friends at Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church (SVBC).
He was predeceased by his son, Steve; brothers Wally and Raymond; sister-in-law Lorna; and his parents.
Gordon loved his family, his church, and his work. He spent 42 years working at the University of Alberta, leaving behind a great legacy. He was a charter member of SVBC and volunteered in just about every role at the church, stepping in wherever there was a need. Gordon volunteered on multiple community boards, sought out for his meticulous leadership and knowledge of Robert's Rules of Order.
A private family burial has already been held. A memorial celebration of Gordon's life will be hosted at SVBC, 51 Woodlands Road, St. Albert on Thursday, August 10 at 2:30 p.m.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff on unit 1 at Youville Home for their care and compassion and to Fern Proulx for his consistency in visiting Gordon over the last two years.
To honour Gordon's memory, his family encourages you to enjoy a piece of pie.
